Day 6...
Nothing really important to update. We lose yet ANOTHER hour tonight. It's terrible. I'm looking forward to gaining all the hours on our voyage home but by then I'll just want to be home so really it makes no sense. I personally believe we should just keep it consistent and lose all the hours when we get there.. It won't make much of a difference I wouldn't think but of course not. By now we are about half way through the voyage to Spain, at least that's what is looks like on the TV monitor. I learned today that we will be 'bunkering' near the straight of Gibraltar and will be almost close enough to see the monkeys on the land. Bunkering has something to do with fuel intake underwater. They explained it today in Global Studies but I am already over that class. It is in the forward-most part of the ship and the rocking and swaying of the boat feels exactly as if you were in a hammock. To make it worse, the chairs swivel so at no point are you sitting still. Some people complain of getting sea sick while others complain about it putting them to sleep. I am in the latter category. I have a near impossible time attempting to maintain consciousness during the class. Today was the first day I actually made it through with out an accidental nap however I did take a 10 minute break from the class and walk outside. The weather is gorgeous. I haven't ventured up to the top deck during the day since we embarked but I do enjoy going up there at night to look at the stars. I finally got to take a nap today. I know it doesn't sound like much and your probably asking why I am updating about that but it was glorious! The rocking of the ship gives me the best sleep I think I have ever had in my life. It was well needed after all the time changes. Thus far I am failing miserably at my goal to go to the gym but I am going to attempt to get up early tomorrow and go. I've been using the stairs everywhere I go and I haven't been snacking at all so its at least a start. We are still eating the same food as the first day. They must have entire rooms stocked full of potatoes and noodles because we have both every day at every meal. Its actually interesting to note that we also have a salad with fresh vegetables everyday and hand cut cheese. I'm curious to know how they keep the vegetables and lettuce fresh. I am going to look into a tour of the ship soon and take some pictures. I can't wait to upload the other ones I have taken so far although there are very few of life aboard the M/V Explorer. Spain in 6 days! Can't wait!
